Five Gorgeous Views We Have Thanks to National Park Protection

All this week people around the U.S. are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. For 100 years, America’s parks have provided opportunities for people to explore nature.

This centennial year, the Sierra Club, together with the Obama administration and others, is working to ensure more people have the chance to get outside and enjoy all our public lands have to offer. Whether it’s the majestic lands surrounding the Grand Canyon or a neighborhood green space, the wild is where you find it and we want everyone to be able to experience it.

Now -- how about five of the most gorgeous views from some of our national parks? (Of course there are many, many more -- but we just picked five favorites).

1. Yosemite National Park

2. Yellowstone National Park's Grand Prismatic Spring

3. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore

4. Grand Canyon National Park - View from Cape Royal, the southernmost view point of the North Rim

5. Great Smoky National Park, view from Clingman’s Dome

BONUS! Like we said, it’s hard to cut it down to just five. Here’s one more -- from Glacier National Park’s Grinnell Glacier Trail.

Phew. What a view. Thanks to our National Park System for helping protect these views for 100 years -- here’s to many more!
