Sign the petition: Protect Tucson utility customers from bad rates and attacks against rooftop solar

Tucson Electric Power (TEP) has proposed changes that would make it much more expensive for Tucsonans to 'go solar.' TEP's proposal would damage Arizona's growing rooftop solar industry with new fees on solar customers.

TEP also wants to raise the monthly fixed charge that all customers have to pay by 70 percent. Fixed charges impact low-income customers unfairly and they make energy conservation and efficiency less attractive to all customers.

Our state is at a crossroads -- fossil fuels, or conservation and clean energy? Let's seize this opportunity and commit to a future powered by clean solar energy and energy efficiency.

Take action now to demand that TEP end its attacks on rooftop solar, low-income customers, and energy efficiency. Instead, let's invest in Tucson's clean energy future!

As a Tucson Electric Power customer, I urge you to act immediately to stop your attacks on our growing local rooftop solar industry. Your rate proposal would make it more expensive for working-class families to install solar panels, making solar an option only for those who can afford to pay exorbitant fees. Arizona families should have the freedom to choose how to generate their own energy. I also urge you to reduce the 70% increase you have proposed for the monthly 'customer charge.' This huge jump in a fixed monthly fee would cost Tucson families an extra $84 per year before they turn on one light, and regardless of how much energy they use. This cost increase will impact low-income and working-class families most, while wealthy and wasteful customers will hardly notice the difference. Our state is at a crossroads -- fossil fuels or clean energy? Let's seize this opportunity and commit to a future powered by clean energy, energy efficiency, and fair rates for everyone.
