Ask Biden to Strengthen Species Protections

The Endangered Species Act -- one of our nation's most effective conservation laws -- turns 50 this year. Since being signed into law by President Nixon in 1973, the Endangered Species Act has saved 99% of the species under its protection from extinction, including the bald eagle, humpback whale, California condor, and many others.

We need the Endangered Species Act now more than ever. Due primarily to rampant habitat destruction and climate change, 41% of ecosystems are at risk of range-wide collapse, and 40% of animals and 36% of plants are at risk of extinction in the U.S (1). Having these protections in place is critical for people, too -- our health depends on functioning natural systems, including thriving native plant and wildlife populations.

We need President Biden to ensure that we have even stronger biodiversity and endangered species protections for the next 50 years. Send a message asking him to enact a whole-of-government approach to saving biodiversity and endangered species, and to support full funding of the Endangered Species Act!

We know that personal messages are more impactful, so feel free to add your own personal story at the top or by directly editing the message field.
